Program: 8 – 10 a.m.

Presented by Steve Legler
Strategic planning in a family business requires a strategy for the family and a strategy for the business. The challenge is finding success for both at the same time.
Join us for this virtual event as we explore how families can align themselves with a set of engaged family members. Attendees will learn how this alignment best plays out in family meetings, whether it be a family council or assembly, or your family’s first meeting. We will build on these concepts to learn about the Parallel Planning Process and how it can help create a strategy for the family and the business.
- Family Alignment and why it is so important to business families, including how it is related to family engagement.
- Family Meetings, including a family assembly or a family council, and how to get started with them.
- The Parallel Planning Process and the importance of having a strategic plan for the family as well as the business.
This program is offered in conjunction with the University of St. Thomas and Wisconsin Family Business Center. Please join us from 7:30-8 a.m. for small groups online to discuss family business issues and learn best practices from family businesses on the other side of the St. Croix. The program will begin promptly at 8, with additional time during the presentation to discuss the day’s topic in small groups.
Families who bring members of more than one generation will find the content extra impactful.
