JP Cullen is a fifth-generation family-owned business that started back in 1892. The full-service preconstruction and construction company manages and builds new construction, renovations, and specialized work in government, education, healthcare, commerce, industrial, arts and entertainment, and historic restoration.

The company serves Wisconsin, northern Illinois, and northeast Iowa. Its corporate headquarters is in Janesville, WI. JP Cullen also has offices in Milwaukee, WI, and Madison, WI.

“You see all these wonderful buildings we’ve built around the community and knowing all the people who have worked on those projects you just feel a great sense of pride,” says Laura Cullen, training and development manager at JP Cullen.

“It’s an incredible, fortunate position that we’re in but also a challenging one to continue to make sure as a family we take care of our employees and take care of them not just today but for future generations to come,” adds Jeannie Cullen-Schultz, co-president of JP Cullen.

FBC Impact

JP Cullen has been a long-standing member of the Wisconsin Family Business Center. “Now as the fifth generation we continue to be members and feel very blessed to have this great resource,” Jeannie says. She has been utilizing FBC and its resources for the 11 years she has worked at JP Cullen.

Laura particularly enjoys the monthly Speaker Series and Food For Thought programs FBC offers. “Everybody is able to just work together and share best practices, share their lessons learned, and really respect each other,” she says.

"They offer something for everybody regardless of where you and your family business is at,” Jeannie adds. “There’s a program that will be a fit for you.”
