Leading & Managing Amid Disruptive Demographics

Presented by James H. Johnson, Jr., Ph.D., William Rand Kenan, Jr. Distinguished Professor Kenan-Flagler Business School, UNC-Chapel Hill.

American families and businesses have changed significantly in recent decades. Families are having fewer children, later in life. Many employees are working longer, and recently we’ve had four generations in the workforce. Customers and workers are coming from cultures we may not have seen before in our community. Some shifts have been gradual and others more sudden. Change will keep coming, but what will those changes be? And how do we prepare our family businesses for them?

Join us for a fascinating discussion on how slowing growth both in US and foreign-born populations, white population decline, below replacement level fertility, and other disruptive demographics will change America and U.S. family businesses forever.

This is a virtual event, co-hosted by the Wisconsin Family Business Center and the University of St. Thomas Family Business Center. Our presenter, Dr. James Johnson, is the Distinguished Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Dr. Johnson is a leading scholar on the effects of demographic changes on the U.S. workplace, public policy in urban America and workforce diversity issues.
